Sis got her first fish tank for her B-Day. All 10 fish managed to survive 9 days so far. So they decided to go get a scum sucker. He lasted 5 minutes. The ammonia and nitrate levels were so high it just killed over, but not the fish? Nobody realized the levels so they went and got two more. Those two killed over then mom rushed to clean out the whole thing. What a mess that caused.
Now that the tank is clean and all good, we can actually see the one fish that has been bothering me. He has red spots all over his gills, which seamed transparent and inflamed. Now that I can see him better, I see that the gill is actually wearing away. The little nub at the top of his head actually has a white spot on it – just as I suspected. Told them it was either a very violent fish or some kind of disease. Most diseases are contagious and it should be removed. Now that two more have it though that’s not an option. So mom found the name and something to dump in that will clear them up. The one, however, I doubt will get any better. Next time, they should pick their own fish, not let the people pick for them.
