I used to keep a log of these ‘sleep attacks’ I got. Starts in the middle of my back (when laying on my stomach), feels like that pins and needles thing you get when your foot falls asleep. Then it starts to spread and it hurts more and more, like you just moved your foot without thinking; however, it consumes my entire body…(A high pitch ringing noise also accompanies it.) That’s when I start to force my body to wake up. The first step is a bitch though, because you have to relax your body and stop panicking.
Never knew what it was, so after all these false accusations I decided to try and find a name for it; then I came upon Sleeping Paralysis. They explain and covered EVERYTHING I hear and feel during it…Still in the process of figuring it out, which is really noticeable due to the fact that half their info is wrong!
The average person only experiences this once in their life, however, I get the lovely pleasure of 4-5 times in one night. Longest record, because I was so tired, was nine in a row. Some times, though rare, I get lucky and can get through an entire month without one.
They say, ‘you won’t have one on your side.’ BS! I have had them in every position that I sleep in: side, stomach, other side, back, up side down, or this half-stomach half-side fetus position; In other words all over the bed. I had one repeat so many times that I spun my body around in bed 1 and ½ rotations. In my opinion, though, the back is the worst. Feels like your lungs are collapsing into your chest and they are treating to stop working.
My fav part is the ‘Evil presence’ BITE ME! For the first few years of this shit I was almost convinced there was some kind of ghost trying to get me to do an OBE, so it could take over my body. (Idea brought on by a late night read I had…)
"The pain I think may be related to the breathing pattern. Body thinks you’re asleep and the mind is trying to wake up so your still breathing at bout 1/5 of the norm and the mind says, “NO, we need a whole number here! The body’s awake!” Causes a panic attack, and since the back is exposed it feels as if you are exposed. Since your still asleep its like SOMETHING is there just watching you. Most of the time I find this to be my minds eye watching me, kind of freaky really.)"
Though, now I see the connections to the Abductions and OBEs. Weather they are possible to do or not don’t matter. SP makes you feel like you are experiencing one of them. Especially when your eyes (one of the very few things you can move during this, like it could help any) move back and forth across the inside of your lids and you start to hallucinate.
It’s also possible to do a version of a lucid dreaming after SP kicks in, if you like the pain it employs…Hence I’ve only done this once, then slipped back into a peaceful sleep, still haven’t figured how I managed it.
